FFB Not loading in iRacing

Folks,
A couple of times (not frequently) I join a session and on entering the track I don’t have FFB. iRacing shows movement on the FFB display bar but the wheel is light. I quit the session and reload and FFB returns. I wrote to iRacing wondering if it were their issue but they say it’s more likely the wheel.
What’s happening and can I fix it in session rather than reloading?
