Automobilista 2

@thedozyone Hi guys is still broken on automobilist 2.
I'm also having issues with the force feedback the wheel just goes to the left violently.
I'm running v21.07.02 -
I think there was a guide on the FB group on how to re calibrate but for me it now works fine when in game mode.

@thedozyone , hi, tell me. please how to change in game mode?
Thank you! -
@sim-plicity-dev , hi, tell me please how switch from "USB Mode" to "Game Mode"?
Thank you,
Kind regards. -
This is a beta feature introduced in v21.07.xx. You would need to upgrade to v21.07.04 to use this
Run the installer with the wheelbase connected via USB and powered on then follow the on-screen prompts
Once upgraded
In the "Advanced" tab of your desktop app, change the USB Mode drop-down from Sim to Game and click "Set Mode" -
@sim-plicity-dev, Thank you for explaining!

I know this is an old thread, but I just bought AMS 2 in the Steam Wintersale and am having problems getting the wheelbase (SW20 V3) to work reliably. I'm running the wheel in Game mode as per the instructions, firmware 21.07.05 and sometimes it works fine. But it seems that whenever there is a spike in Force Feedback the wheel turns left with maximum force (as set ingame) and the game does not respond to the wheel after that. When it happens I also hear the windows sound that a USB device disconnects and reconnects, so I'm assuming this has something to do with the driver or firmware. I have to go into the Sim-plicity control program and change the USB mode to sim and back again to get it to work normally again.
Is anybody else experiencing the same?
I'll also ask support directly since these forums get very few visitors it seems.

There appears to be a long standing issue in AMS2 that seems like what you are experiencing
https://forum.reizastudios.com/threads/steering-wheel-turning-completely-to-the-right-in-some-cars.11468/
https://forum.reizastudios.com/threads/random-left-pull-on-the-steering.30498/
https://forum.reizastudios.com/threads/wheel-hard-pulling-to-the-right-multiple-users-affected.14582/These have occurred across multiple manufacturer wheelbases with reports as recently as November 2024.
Not sure why it happens but it does appear to be a sim side issue.

@Sim-plicity-Dev I think that what I am experiencing is different, it's not a short glitch in the feedback and being able to continue. The wheel turns left or right and stays there. The game doesn't recognise any wheel input after that and I have to shut down the game, reset the wheelbase (toggle between game mode and sim mode) for the wheel to start working again. I also hear the windows sound that a usb device disconnects and reconnects when this issue happens.
I can drive longer without problems if I lower the torque setting in control panel, but that kind of defeats the purpose of having this wheelbase.

The windows USB disconnect & reconnect you hear is the wheelbase attempting to recover from a monitored instability on the USB bus.
This is programmed into the firmware if a certain % of heartbeats between the PC & wheelbase fail within a defined period. It seeks to highlight USB issues rather than being the cause.
Can you post screenshots of your Telemetry page whilst in AMS2. One screenshot after you exit the garage and another after the issue occurs.
Do not switch USB modes before taking the 2nd screenshot.
Further question, when the hard left or right occurs, does the wheel remain at full power (pushing against the endstops) after the disconnect/reconnect?

No doubt Ill be muddying the waters. Thus apologies in advance
and please ignore if irrelevant.I have not had LR snapping on my SW20v3 in AMS2 ( Checked last night for a couple of hours .
I use a dedicated usb 2 header from my mobo so its un contested and use also use Sim mode for the game with circa 15Nm - 17Nm) settings. ( iirc usually USB modes 2-5 depending on vehicle)
I also only used Default or Default + . I did become tired of chasing custom ffb file downloads as for me they always seemed to fade in efficacy on new updates.Hope it helps even if for just elimination purposes
Good luck hope you get what ever it is sorted

@Sim-plicity-Dev So, try as I might I've been unable to reproduce the problem the last 2 days. Thank you for explaining the technical details, that stuff is always interesting.
I'll get the screenshots whenever I encounter the issue again, but I can answer the question; yes, the wheel remains bumping into the endstop until I switch USB mode from game to sim and/or back. Exiting the game doesn't help. I am using an external, powered USB hub to connect the devices on my rig to the PC.
@Ochso I have also found that sim mode works just as good as game mode, but in the interest of clarity I'm only using game mode as per the instructions.
