Looking under the presets on RF2 I see there are two presets present.
SW25 & SW25 (Game Mode)

SW25 I'm gathering is the Sim Mode.

Should there be a preference when making a choice between the two?

Generally, you would choose Sim Mode unless the title in question requires Game Mode to function.
The Presets Installer creates both entries and leaves the choice to you.
